Fair point, Divis. In the States, the game crosses all economic and social strata. My home state of Michigan has the highest number of golf courses per capita in the country. There certainly are the Country Club set, but it is available and enjoyed at all levels. And it has always been a very popular spectator sport. Hell, my home AOH Division had a contingent at the Ryder Cup. I am quite sure they anchored a corner of some pub down, and regaled the locals with tales of the golf prowess of their lost cousins across the sea ..... LOL. And sure as hell they sang, poorly I'll wager, The Wild Colonial Boy more times than civilized people ought to have to listen to. (Is it legal to use the word "to" that many times in one sentence?)
