Thread Name: The songs of Paddy Roberts.

So, why change it, Don?

"Drainpipe pants" makes sense in the context of the time when the song was written, as does "in the middle of a cha-cha-cha". "Stovepipe" is not only anachronistic it's even more confusing than the original!

Paddy Roberts recordings always had "drainpipe", and that's what I always sing. I also do "The Belle of Barking Creek", "The Englishman and his Sang-froid", "Follow Me", "Love isn't What it Used to Be", and "Merry Christmas you Suckers" when roused.

Trouble is, at my age, I take a bit of rousing!
