Of course I have a way of knowing. It is called sampling. To know what the British think about the involvement in Iraq I do not need to ask all of them. Sampling gives a fairly good assessment.

I have seen posts that were not there some minutes later. I have seen threads that were not there the next day. I have seen posts eliminated that were there again the next day. This is my sample from which I can asses quite confidently what the typical nature of posts eliminated is, how often that happens. I make an inference from the sample I see to the population. From what I see there I say with confidence that I agree with the present amount of moderating in roughly 95% of the cases I see. And I don't care about the rest for I don't know whether my (rarely) dissenting opinion is any better than that of the acting clone
