100th Anniversary of PETER IREDALE Shipwreck

Five organizations on both sides of the Columbia River will be hosting events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the running aground of the 4 masted bark, PETER IREDALE. The Columbia River Maritime Museum, Fort Stevens State Park, Clatsop County Historical Society, Cape Disappointment State Park, and the Ilwaco Heritage Museum have scheduled events from October 21st through the 29th. These events will assist in educating the public about the dangers of the Columbia River Bar, and tell stories relating to PETER IREDALE and other shipwrecks in the area. Visitors can obtain a shipwreck passport at any of the participating sites. Each site will have their own rubber stamp to indicate that the visitor has visited that site. Passports completed with all the stamps during the nine-day period will receive a 10% off any merchandise they purchase at any of the sites.
• Saturday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m., actors and musicians will perform "Shipwreck Stories and Sea Shanties," presented by Cape Disappointment Interpretive Staff in the Ford Room, FREE Columbia River Maritime Museum
