Hope you're well . On the subject of Slag / Iron and steel and steel
here's ( a real anorak) statistic which Vin showed me in a book when he was writing the song , that at the turn of the Century (1900's) South Bank was producing One Sixth of the worlds's production of Pig Iron. Considering all the countries especially the USA which were frantically producing - that was some feat.
As an aside, I wouldn't normally listen to Billy Joel - but if you listen to the words of his "Allenstown" it evokes memories about South Bank ,Grangetown and Dormanstown. Strange to put Vin and Billy Joel in the same subject matter !!!!
