...I tried to do the PalTalk thing once or twice, but no one seemed to wait after they were finished to see if anyone else wanted time, they IMMEDIATELY 'raised their hands' to get back in line. It just didn't feel like sharing, but more like elbowing.

Just joining a queue, I think. I preferred the paltalk "hands up" but I think it became more of an advantage with larger numbers of people than you would get from just Mudcat. I also doubt that the lack of any admin controls would have been workable now.

In some ways I did prefer the Hearme days but those reasons have nothing to do with the technical merits or otherwise of either system.
