Remember the old song? "I like bananas- because they have no bones."
I prefer the small, 'lady' bananas but they seldom appear in our markets. They are very popular in Hawaii. Genetic modifications on the Cavendish, or use of one of the other 300 varieties, ensures that bananas will be with us as long as humans continue to eat them. Squash that urban legend, and remember that the "New Scientist" is not a scholarly journal.
