I happen to be rereading Tom Robbins Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas, and was struck by a passage in which the main character asks her friend if she thinks dreams ever come true, to which the friend replies:

You aren't talking about dreams, you're referring to your pathetic bourgeoisie ambitions. Dreams don't come true. Dreams are true.
