Thread Name: Lyr Req: russian folk song - millions rose
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: russian folk song_million's rose
This might take a while, but I have a half-Aunt who was born and raised in the USSR and now living in either North Carolina or South Carolina, USA. My mother probably has current contact information. Her father, my grandfather, was a complete convert to communism in the years following 1932 when he went there ostensibly to make a film (it fell through). He stayed in the unshakeable belief that anything was better than being black in 1930's America. (My white grandmother escaped with my mother just as Stalin was slamming the door shut.) My grandfather's other kids were raised entirely in the Russian culture. Since he was a performing artist - acting, playwriting, dancing, anything for a ruble, let's hope he knew the song you want and taught it to my (half-) Aunt.

Maybe some sort of update in a day or two. Hope so...I'm curious about this because it kind of relates to a lost part of my personal history.
