About guest host SHARON ABBOTT: From poignant ballads to topical commentary to punny verbal slapstick, Sharon Abbott writes songs with tightly-woven lyrics that reflect her keen observation of human experience and her broad sense of humor. Her songwriting style is evidence of her interest in folk, classic country and musical theater. Enhanced by her resonant voice and her fingerpicking and strumming flair on guitar, the result is a treat for the listener who can keep up with the Tilt-a-Whirl of Sharon's imagination in song.
Sharon is co-chair of the Philadelphia Songwriters Alliance and has led several songwriting workshops. She won first place in the 2006 "Best of the Best" singer-songwriter contest at the Peanut Gallery Acoustic Cafe in Norristown, and has twice won the Philadelphia Folk Factory "People's Choice" Award. She has played solo gigs at many venues across the Delaware Valley and Lehigh Valley, is a member of the folk/bluegrass/blues band Jacobs Creek, and provides backup vocals and instrumentals for singer-songwriter David Kleiner.
