Mo cheol thu was one of my favourite programmes. It was always particularly pleasingto see the way in which he would often focus on the time of year and the rhythms of the seasons for his choice of music. He did a marvellous job of collecting tunes and songs up and down the country during the fifties and up and ensured that much of the tradition was not lost.
Sadly Ciaran came to sound increasingly more frail in the past year or so.
It may be of interest to some to know that there is a programme on RTE Lyric fm on Sat/Sun evenings called Grace Notes which throws up some nice music also. Not strictly traditional but an interesting mix. On repeat via the RTE website for a week as well.
