As a kid in Lincolnshire Mischief Night was November 4th and Halloween (All Souls Night) was the night that the dead walked and you didn't go out. It certainly wasn't the commercial fiesta it seems to have become.

The important part of Mischief Night was that it wasn't of the 'Trick or Treat' variety, the mischief (minor) got done without resort to blackmail.
