People have noted that "exercising" a thread restores proper function.

This is probably because a new action within the thread allows the database to "pack" data about the files in the database.

MOABS might return to a proper count as soon as someone has actually opened, completetly, all of the pages at the same time and made a post.

Apparently just opening the "last 50"" and posting doesn't do it, but it's possible that just opening - completely - each of the pages, with a post at the end would reindex the thread.(?)

Quite obviously one like myself on dialup can't reasonably be expected to do this, however one of you people with a fast connection and a lot of memory could try.


(Odds of it really working aren't great; but it would certainly keep at least one of the MOABS devotees too busy to whine for a while?)
