Hi,
Here's a recording of Cindy in the Meadows: http://www.honkingduck.com/BAZ/honkingduck78s.php?qt=artist&ap=10&tp=14&q=samantha&Find=Search
I've tried to transcribe it, need some help. Corrections please. There are only a few words that I can't get.
"Cindy In The Meadows" by "Samantha Bumgarner & Eva Jones (or Davis)"
Columbia 167 - D Recorded: April 1, 1924 Issued: July 1924
(Fiddle)
I asked her if she loved me,
She said she loved me some.
I throwed my arms around her
Like a (?) around a (?)
Everything's all right Cindy
Cindy in the summertime,
Cindy in the fall
If I don't get Cindy
I'll not marry at all
Everything's all right Cindy
When I went to see her,
She's standing in the door
With her shoes and stockings in her hand
And her feet all over the floor
Everything's all right Cindy.
(Fiddle)
? Great big sweet potato
While running in the sand
She swore I was the biggest fool
That lived in Dixon land
Everything's all right Cindy.
(Fiddle)
When I went to see her
She wrung her hands and cried
When I went I went to leave her
She passed away and died.
Everything's all right Cindy.
