Steve-o,

What I said was correct. The group "Old And In The Way" was regarded as " a buch of hippies playing Bluegrass" with Vassar Clements as a guest star. I feel it in not right to speculate on "who does what" while people are still alive, but Clarence White and the rest of the Byrds were stoners. Even Chris Hillman, who is now a devout Christian and a fine family man. Vassar Clements was not able to work during part of the 1960s due to alcohol abuse. I believe he, as Willy Nelson, found pot was better for his personal needs, at least for a while. I do not like drug songs anymore. Part of growing up.
