If this is a Rove deception, it is a damned strange one. First off, a polygraph is not proof of anything and it hardly matters since Haggert has already admitted parts of the man's accusations are true--that he bought meth and that he got a massage from a gay man. There's no redemption from that. As far as evangelicals are concerned, that's already too much.

What was he being tempted by meth for in the first place? It's not a forgivable temptation because it's not one any normal person would have. It merely betrays a weak and twisted character. "I was tempted to seek comfort in the arms of another woman than my wife" is one thing but "I was tempted to purchase crystal meth over the phone from unsavory homosexual characters (and let one of them give me a massage) but decided not to use it" is quite another and it smacks too much of "I smoked it but I didn't inhale" and "I did not have sex with that woman" rolled into one.

The way to get the public's mind off Foley and the breakdown of the Republican congressional leadership is not to feed the public more RW moralists with drug, alcohol, and closet homosexual revelations.
