apple leather. quarter them and simmer with a very little water until tender - put through a food mill or seive to remove skins, stems, seeds and those hard bits of the core. gently cook down until very thick. spread in a thin layer on parchment or greased sheets of paper and dry in a very low oven until leathery. dust with powdered sugar and roll them up into tubes. Can be frozen or stored in a cool, dark, dry space.
