It was not done probably because it takes time to build up. In other words, it was not there at the time of the surgery because it was the surgery that caused it to build up. Also, they are not likely to do another procedure unless they have gotten your consent.

I am curious as to what sort of lab report you saw that noted no apparent malignancy but was contradicted by the consulting physician. Was it a scan? Biopsy?
