Thread Name: Origins: All Night Long / Richmond Blues
Subject: RE: Source of Song in DT - All Night Long
For the sake of discussion, here are the DT lyrics. Some of the verses are familiar because I've heard them in other songs, but I don't recognize this song at all. The song came from somebody with the initials "DP," and was added to the DT in April 1997.
This site (click) make me thing it may be the "All Night Long Blues" by Burnett and Rutherford, 1927.

ALL NIGHT LONG

All night long, all night long
All night long, from midnight on

Down in the depot (down in the depot)
Ready to go (ready to go)
If the train don't come (if the train don't come)
Something's wrong down the road
(something's wrong down the road)

If I live
And don't get killed
I'll make my home
In Louisville

In Louisville, in Louisville
If I live and don't get killed

I'd rather be dead
And in my grave
Than in this old town
Treated this way

If anyone asks you
Who wrote this song
Tell 'em it was me
And I'll sing it all night long
