Thread Name: BS: Saddam sentenced to death
Subject: RE: BS: Saddam sentenced to death
The last two posts to this thread:
Peace, 10 Nov 06 - 02:23 AM: "It would be apt to offer Saddam Hussein in trade for Osama bin Laden."
To which dianavan responded: "Thats way to logical, Peace. It will never happen."
Now if those posts are to be taken seriously, do they illustrate accurately the grasp that both parties have of the situation and events leading up that situation.
It shows that dianavan has no take on logic at all, she is however correct in stating that "Peace's" proposed swap will never happen.
Maybe Peace can expand a bit on why the Iraqi Authorities would want to "trade" their erstwhile dictator and tormentor for some renegade Saudi national who has been on the run for the last four years, but who has yet to perpetrate any crimes against the people of Iraq.
Saddam Hussein's crimes on the other hand were largely committed against the Iraqi people and depending on what source is referenced, throughout Saddam's tenure of office (July 1979 to March 2003) on average 154 to 282 Iraqi citizens lost their lives each day to this man's regime.
Now having been caught, charged, tried and convicted in accordance with Iraqi Law, I'd say let the Iraqi Judicial process take care of the matter - Osama bin Laden doesn't enter the equation, since he scrambled for caves of Afghan/Pakistan border four years ago Osama bin Laden has rendered himself totally irrelevant.
