Good advice, people.

   I'd just go further with one point.

   IMHO, you cannot change anyone else. Only we can
do that for ourselves when we're ready to and
prepared to. And we'll find that as we change, others
can change too, and often do.

   The accounts of meeting negativity reminds me of
the line,
"If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll
keep on getting what you've always got."
