I used to use a Macintosh program called Deluxe Music Construction Set. I simply transcribed the tune into the program, notating it precisely as it was in the book, and then my computer played it for me, accurately, with all the timing and accidentals precisely as they were written (assuming, of course, that I made no errors in my transcription).Unfortunately, this is an old program, which doesn't work on PowerMacs--it needs an internal wave generator to generate the tones, and the newer computers have sampled sounds instead. But I keep my old MacPlus around and use it as a music machine.
