You have to be prepared to travel as performing clubs are few and far flung these days
I was lucky, when I was living in Catford there were clubs in Bromley, Beckenham, Lee, Blackheath, Catford, Orpington Downe Croyden, Herne Hill, and Dartford with an occasional foray into Plumstead.
Dartford has evolved from thosed days as has the Thursday orpington club
