A little off topic, but a well-known hacker has published his claim that he has "broken" the iTunes DRM, and has the ability to play stuff from them on "any player."

He has NOT released his code for individual users, but is setting up to market it to the makers of "all the other players" so that they can add the ability to play iTunes downloads in their own programs.

We'll have to wait and see, but eventually we may reach the point where we don't have to have a different player for each media format.
