Sitting in my first grade class. It was show and tell day, and I had a Etch-a-sketch.   I had done a crude drawing of a phone booth and a flag and my turn to show the class was coming up. Another teacher walked in the room and whispered the news to my teacher. I can still see her horrified look. She paused for a moment and then told us the president has been shot.   About an hour later my mother came to pick me up. She had not heard the news and thought I was making some sort of sick joke when I told her.
