Thread Name: Rosalie Sorrels, a treasure
Subject: Rosalie Sorrels, a treasure
I was recently on a train across Canada with Rosalie and 70 other folks
and she sang a song which is known as her theme song...Travellin' Lady.

She spoke kindly of Jean Ritchie who encouraged her to find her voice,
and the change from the "Tweetie Bird" voice she used to sing with.

Rosalie has gone on to sing from coast to coast and although the
travellin' song is thought as her theme, she really likes to have
a place to come home to.

She has chronicalled the lives of some of the early settlers in
Idaho in her book "Way Out in Idaho" which sadly is out of print.

There will be a television special featuring her and several
other singing women from Idaho on the television soon.

check out her web site...she is a glorius 73 years old now
and gets better every year!!

If you remember the song by Nanci Griffith
on her Lone Star State of Mind about a Ford
van....the Ford Econoline was about Rosalie.
