I was 11 years old in my last year of primary school & don't remember hearing of his death.

But what I do remember is our neighbour getting a Returned Thanks card from Mrs Kennedy some months later. That was something that stuck in my memory - one of our neighbours in a poor suburb of western Sydney received a card from the widow of the American President!!! And it was signed by her!!
