Bodhran, like the pennywhistle, is an easy instrument to play. But it is difficult to play well. Far too many folks think it is just about a thump on the beat. The ornaments and subtleties, in addition to the beat, are what make it the heartbeat of the music. And these ornaments and subtleties, in addition to understanding the structure of the music (time signature, key, etc) are what separate the pro's from hobbyists. I have no problem with folks who just enjoy beating it, and they can accompany fairly well. But if one is going to be accomplished, this instrument takes a great deal of effort.

Having a Festival seems a bit much, however I will wager there will be a lot of good music played. And I will further wager that a great time will be had by all.
