I am confused...again.
From my East coast American perspective, all I see is a wacked old man who has gotten into a TV studio and called the host of a show a buch of nasty names on air. Not any more clever than our own Michale Richards event a few weeks back. I am amazed at the vociferous tone of those who think this was a great moment in RTE history...and nearly everyone who commented seemed to think so.
Given that the host may have been a bit of a prat...he seems to think that Eurovision Song Contest is a laudable event.
Still, the old duffer seemed like a clear whack-job. Why is there so much gleeful cackling over this? What's the backstory?
