Many years ago in the Swan at Sidmouth we used to have 'interesting gourmet nights'!!! One highlight was whelks in chocolate sauce. We did manage to get the lads from the rugby club to eat them after we managewd to convince them they were a huge gourmet delicacy... They should have known better during Folk Week.
