Previous thread on The Master of the Sheepfold, but it doesn't seem to have much to do with slavery except the original poem was in dialect. It's more about inclusiveness [mostly interpreted as religious] than anything else. In the 'small world' department: The poem came earlier, but Bill Bonyan collected the song from our Charley Noble's mother (who got it from her friend, Wendy Holt).
