Try http://thefleeceinn.co.uk/history1.html ~ The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, bequeathed to the National Trust in the 1970's,by it's last owner Lola Taplin. A settle (seat) cupboard still contains shoes hidden there.

I've just read that shoes were hidden to ward off evil spirits.

Next to the seat is a fireplace with several "witches' rings" painted on the floor, also to ward of evil & to stop witches coming down the chimney.
