Remember that in politics what you say does not necessarily reflect your beliefs and inner feelings. I'm sure Cheney loves his daughter and it is an indication of the conflict between politics and feelings that he did not disown her when she came out of the closet.

Unfortunately Mary Cheney will never know about the not having family health insurance because she is a member of the American Aristocracy. Her family's wealth will protect her and her baby. Too many gay couples do not have that protection.
