Hitler "stayed the course". He never allowed any of his troops to "cut and run"...and that is how he stupidly lost entire armies at places like Stalingrad, Tunisia, Normandy, East Prussia, etc...

It's one of the best ways to court absolute disaster when you've made intially poor or unrealistic military decisions. Bush obviously does not grasp that simple truth.
