Gulliver: Cape Breton is a hotbed of Scottish Gaelic culture. So it's a lot more likely to find a Scottish Gaelic version of Song For the Mira than an Irish one. (But y' never ken...)

Cape Breton is part of Nova Scotia, not Newfoundland by the way. But has its own modest separatist movement.

Odd but true: there's a private company that is trying to establish a private-enterprise space shuttle launch site. On Cape Breton right by the Mira. I'm not making this up. Apparently the geographic coordinates there are ideal for efficient launches to the Int'l Space Station. The mind boggles.

If you like that song, it's just one of several that qualify as CB anthems--also look up 'The Island', 'Working Man' and 'Getting Dark Again'.
