Giok, I might have accepted that your first post was intended as a criticism of other people's prejudices if it hadn't been for your second. It is quite simply wrong to assume guilt before it's been proved. As I've said before - a point jacqui discounts - proof can be very elusive and in the absence of proof our system has far too often seen people convicted anyway. That is a failing, and no amount of safe convictions can make it right. For as long as unsafe convictions continue, none of us has any reason to feel complacent about British justice.
