Just to advise about Emma Christian.

There's an ancient title given to old-established landowners in the Isle of Man, and it's 'Captain of the Parish'. It used to carry a number of duties, but these days is largely honorific.

Emma's father, William Daniel Christian, is Captain of the Parish of Kirk Bride, and his father, also William Daniel Christian, was Captain of the Parish before him. The Christian family have been farming Ballakeigh in Kirk Bride since before the end of the sixteenth century.

Emma herself used to take part in Yn Chruinnaght, a festival of Manx traditional material, when she was a youngster.

Because of her musical ability, she was sent to Chethams School in Manchester, which specialises in music, at the age of about 13.

Her playing these days no doubt reflects her training at that time.

Shoh slaynt,
