Scrump and Marion talked about finishing a song. Perhaps if you CAN'T finish a song, it IS finished. Knowing when to quit is as important as knowing when to start. I've heard quite few songs where I've thought: Wow, good song, but it would be a great song if it ended a verse or two sooner. Oh, and in my opinion start with an EMPTY wastebasket...
