Because of the speed of Reels[I generally play them at 208 to 210 which is ok dancing speed].Double cuts or short rolls,are quite difficult to execute. I use a dOuble cut that involves the strongest finger the index,so if i was cutting a d note on the left I use grace notes e and a[with index finger], or e twice, occasionally I use the third finger, e c sharp[like a fiddle roll]but by using the index finger on the same row[first example] its easier to keep the grace notes light and staccato.for more info my tutors are available from my web site[www.dick miles. com].Dick Miles.
