In the 80's and throughout the 90's I spent 15 years in Chautauqua County in Western NY, near Buffalo. Yesterday, Jan 4th, was always the day that Chautauqua lake froze over solid. Highs were below freezing and lows often below zero.

Yesterday the high there was 52. This is lower than the record highs, which were set in the last three years. The ski resorts, concord grape harvesters (this is where Mogen David and Welch's comes from) and maple syrup producers are pretty worried.
