My personal strategy is to hold on to my old four-banger a while longer in the hopes that Toyota will finally unbend on the issue of rechargeable (plug and play) electrical systems in hybrids. This will cut the gas consumption even further, since my car sits in the parking lot during the brightest hours of the day while I work and could just as wlel be trickle-charging off a solar panel.
