Wesley: Smart cars and similar, diesel, electric, hydrogen... maybe not quite yet, but...

The present hybrids are low end and certainly, for the most part, low tech that don't butter the biscuit in the long run. They are an attempt to make sales at the expense of the environment. Seriously, would you actually buy one of these puppies with the low tech battery systems that carry vitually no warranty?
