No need. It's done all the time. It'd be hard to find an evangelical leader that wouldn't condemn the likes of Phelps. In fact, that's probably why you haven't read them doing so. In order for you to have read it:

1. You'd actually have to hear from an evangelical leader from time to time.

2. The news would have to deem such a condemnation newsworthy, but at this point such a condemnation would amount to yet another dog bites man story.
