Tom - with all due respect to your beliefs - do you have any children? Did you have to warn them not to touch the stove because it was hot? When they went ahead and touched the stove anyway what did you do? Did you throw them in the oven to burn forever because they disobeyed you? Or did you forgive them, fix the burn and warn them not to do it again?
