No, no, no, you guys didn't get what I was doing. I'm not proposing a Baptist site; I'm just offering a sort of template in the form of a Baptist site's organization. The categories I cited are from "ThinkingBaptists.com", which is a discussion board mainly catering to the left wing of the Baptist movement (it was actually started when a bunch of us got thrown off of BaptistBoard.com for being pro-gay (pro-gay-ordination, pro-gay-marriage, whatever) and not repenting when the fundies told us to) but what I am going to be starting is a hymns/hymnology discussion board that will use the same software (phpBB) as TB.com. It will not be sectarian (I imagine most participants will be Christians of some sort or other, but there certainly won't be any such requirement).
I want people to suggest forums within the general field of hymns and hymnology that might help hymnnuts and hymnologists to discuss their interests in the field in a somewhat more efficiently organized way than is possible at the present Hymn Society discussion board.
So the content of the list I quoted is not what I'm aiming at, but rather a somewhat parallel list catering to the needs and interests of hymnlovers, rather than to the needs and interests of liberal Baptists.
Now, "Social Activism and Hymns" might be a useful forum. So might "Hymns of the Black Churches" (not just Baptist but also AME, AME Zion, Church of God of Holiness, etc., etc., maybe even Nation of Islam?)...
"General Chat" at ThinkingBaptists serves somewhat the same function as the BS Threads section of the Mudcat. (So do "The Woodshed" and "Founders Forum"...)
And yes, Azizi, there are dozens of kinds of Baptists out there (the Yearbook of American Religion, one year that I looked at it, had 42 Baptist denominations listed just in the USA; we are a viscerally schismatic people ;-) ). But I'm looking for hymn topics, not Baptist topics.
Additional suggestions will be welcome... thanks for those to date!
