Okay, Harou, thanks for providing that clarification.
I get it now-at least I think I do.
Btw, I know very little about the role of music in the Nation of Islam. I've heard that that denomination had {has?} some great drill teams [who presumably chanted],but I've never heard anything about the role of vocal or instrumental music in Nation of Islam or, for that matter, in other Muslim congregations that may have predominately Black worshippers such as specific Sunni Muslims congregations in the USA.
If these religious groups don't include music, that would be a tremendous departure from African American aesthetic worship traditions, styles, and preferences. I'd never thought about the role [or lack of role] of music in African American Muslim worship. That would be such an interesting read/discussion.
In contrast, the tremendous influence that vocalists, and drummers & other musicians from COGIG {Church of God In Christ; known colloquially as Holiness} congregations have had on African American religious and secular music is very well known [to those who have studied Black music traditions].
COGIC is pronounced coh-gick ["gic" rhymes with "click"]
