Aggressors who launch unjustified and unnecessary wars on the basis of lies do not particularly deserve to recover from their defeats.

It's India and China who are looking forward to their place in the sun at this point, not the USA. The USA is playing out its dwindling destiny by clinging to ancient political mythology that has become largely unviable. I don't see that changing.
