Having just read Martin Ryan"s posting----I don"t think that Mollymauk DOES come from the Dutch word for gull. Whilst I am not fluent,my Dutch is pretty good, & gull in my book (literally !) is "MEEUW ", not" MOK"----I don"t know, & can"t find, that word in Dutch ( although it could be archaic )--"MOK" is ,in Flemish,(Belgian Dutch ) either a small,round cookie, or a stone or metal MUG used by campers !!
