Up until recently, I was a firm believer in maps, but when we landed in Sacramento and picked up the rental car, it was pitch dark and raining. Trying to read a map with the dome light was impossible, and I'm damn glad we sprung for the GPS.Otherwise we never would have gotten out of the city before daylight. No, they are not perfect, but I won't go without one now.
