I'm not sure I believe this story either but......
I was told that a certain maker of German cars had their SATNAV voice changed from female to male because they had so many complaints from male customers about being TOLD WHAT TO DO BY A WOMAN.

I think of my SATNAV as in car stress relief esp. when trying to navigate 'round unfamiliar inner cities.
